Poet and performance artist, Lamont Dixon visits each 7th grade Language Arts class to expose students to various poetic styles from Shakespeare to hip-hop. Students will learn the important use of figurative language – simile, metaphor, alliteration, etc. as they write various styles of poems such as haiku, free verse, and limerick. They will also be given the opportunity to express themselves while presenting their poems.
