8th Grade Workshop

October 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19 – In-classroom Workshops

A Morris Arts program sponsored by the Morris Educational Foundation and the FMS HSA

Graphic Novelist, Kevin Pyle, introduces students to the fundamentals of comics – combining words with pictures to create meaning. Coinciding with the 8th grade Ancient Greek Social Studies curriculum, he will work with students to create their own “Greek Myth” character. Students will use visual comic storytelling tools such as word balloons, emanata (emotion lines), and facial expressions to tell a story that focuses on the structure of a scene as well as the character design, where they will identify how physical and expressive traits help communicate personality.
