Greetings Frelinghuysen Community,
I hope this message finds you well, and that you are looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday. First marking period report cards were mailed out this past Thursday, and we hope that by now they have arrived at your home. This is a great opportunity for you to sit down with your child and discuss goals for the second marking period. We hope you also take this time to reach out to your teachers or guidance counselor if you have concerns about your child’s progress.
Additional information about your child’s progress will be coming before the winter break as the New Jersey Department of Education will be releasing the 2014-2015 middle school PARCC results this week. Once we have the individual student PARCC reports from the state, we will be mailing them to you along with your child’s individual fall iReady Score Report for reading and math. The states involved with PARCC have put together some outstanding resources for you to help you understand your child’s PARCC score report. If you would like to get a head start on learning about these reports, you can visit the new website www.understandthescore.org which features a FAQ sheet and videos on how to make sense of the information you will be receiving. I look forward to sharing more information with you once we receive and mail out the reports.
iReady Weekly Update:
The iReady company asserts that when students spend 45 minutes or more on the online instructional component of their program in reading and/or math, they experience the most significant gains in achievement. That being the case, we are encouraging students and families to take advantage of the iReady Online Instruction and make it part of your nightly routine at home. This past week we had 49 students participating in their iReady online instruction in Math for over 100 minutes! In Reading, we had 15 students complete over 100 minutes of online instruction. Great work!
Students simply need to go to https://login.i-ready.com/ to log in. Their user name is their school email address, and their password is password123. Give it a try.
