Greetings Frelinghuysen Community,

Happy holidays! I hope you are looking forward to a joyous and restful holiday break with your family. We have a full day of school this Monday and Tuesday, and then a half day on Wednesday before we say goodbye until Monday, January 4th. In the meantime, we have some important events focusing on your child’s academic progress occurring this week. To begin with, your child’s individual PARCC score report was mailed home on Friday.
Mr. Pendergrast, our Superintendent, sent out a video, Making the Most of PARCC Results 2015, to help you understand the PARCC score report, and get a sense of how it will be used to improve outcomes for your child. Two additional resources that will help you make sense of the PARCC results and answer most of your questions are this PARCC Parent FAQ and the websitewww.understandthescore.org.

In addition to the PARCC Score Report, your child will be coming home with their Fall iReady Diagnostic Parent Report tomorrow and Tuesday.  Your child will receive the Parent Report for Reading in their ELA class and their Parent Report for Math in their Math class. We will be directing all of the students to “backpack” the reports home, and to deliver them to you. I encourage you to review your student’s PARCC and iReady reports, and to look for consistencies between them. I would also suggest that you review the reports with your student, and perhaps identify specific areas for improvement. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or counselor.

Wishing you the best this week and over the holiday break!

In partnership,

Mr. Uglialoro
