Greetings Frelinghuysen Middle School Community,
I hope you are enjoying the waning moments of summer and your Labor Day holiday. We at FMS are so excited to see you for the start of the 2016-2017 school year. Administration and the custodial staff have been working all summer to get the building ready so that everyone in our community is proud of the building we come to every day. Teachers have been coming in all summer to prepare their classrooms and get ready to welcome students back to FMS. It is going to be a great opening on Tuesday!
We have so much to be excited about in 16-17. Students will have English Arts every day in grades 6-8. Our Related Arts/Cycle classes have been revised to reflect important learning in Design, Engineering, Graphic Arts, and Music. We now have two new School Counselors who will focus on supporting student success in sixth grade. And we have added even more opportunities for all students to get involved in outstanding after-school activities such as Model United Nations, Robotics, Wind Ensemble, and Chamber Orchestra. In addition, thanks to the generosity of the Morris Educational Foundation and the FMS HSA, all of our students will be able to enjoy an outdoor eating/learning area starting in September, and our 6th graders will be participating in a Community Mural project starting in November. We are confident that FMS students will receive a world-class middle school experience.
We are committed as a school to ensuring that every student progresses – or ascends – academically, socially, and emotionally during their three years at FMS. This is an important and formidable challenge that we can only accomplish in partnership with you. That being the case, we look forward to working closely with our families throughout the school year. We encourage you to reach out whenever concerns or issue arise, and invite you to get involved in our school community.
